Out Again

Didn't get to book out last week coz of field camp, so we effectively had an 11-day "confinement". In retrospect, field camp was quite fun, and a really memorable experience. Not the lessons and serious stuff, but the bashas, the buddies, the combat rations, the technical break, sleeping under the stars, not bathing for days, etc. etc. Makes you appreciate your bed, water (for bathing and washing), cookhouse food, and all the things you take for granted.

We also got an "eye-opener" when we saw how the ninjas were tekan-ed at the oil palm plantation. Even our commanders were disgusted at the way the ninja commanders treat their recruits - "like dogs". I think although Cougar company might not be very "welfare", I am grateful enough that our commanders are still relatively nice people. And the weather has been very kind too - it didn't rain during the entire field camp except during the technical break (when we were allowed to sleep in sheltered areas). That was the night when ninja moved into our previous camp site, which became flooded and we heard from our commanders that they were made to crawl in the mud...

Anw I read Zejia's blog (the most recent entries) and I share a lot of his sentiments regarding army. I got goosebumps reading some of them coz they exactly mirrored my own thoughts, and he has put them in words much better than I possibly can even in my own head. It's very tiring living in an envt where a lot of people are nice just so they can get to command school, and do things just for the commanders' eyes. It's probably an introduction to the scheming and office politics which awaits us in the "real" society, but to see the ugly side of human nature so soon is disheartening.

JJ's releasing his new album next Fri, which is also the day our A levels results are coming out- most probably, according to multiple sources. I am not looking forward to that day.
