Casinos...

So Genting won the bid for Singapore's second IR. I must say I am slightly disappointed because Genting's proposal was the least imaginative and most run-of-the-mill, compared to Eighth Wonder and Kerzner's. The Universal Studios theme park is also nothing to go nuts about - I visited the one in Gold Coast, Australia, and returned less than awed - though it should be a safe bet with family tourists.

Kerzner is my personal favourite, with its bold Frank Gehry design and futuristic concept.

Oh well, seems like our *cough* conservative *cough* gahmen has settled for TWO conservative designs, the other being Las Vegas Sands' IR at Marina Bay. Seems like it will become Singapore's version of "The Three Towers" (instead of two in LOTR), albeit joined by a huge concrete slab (I'm sorry, it's the sky garden or something like that) at the top.

But since we aren't privy to all the information behind the bids, we can only trust the decision of the government and hope everything turns out for the best for Singapore.
