Death Note

Caught Death Note with the gang yesterday. A decent movie with an interesting premise: that a crime-free society can be created by the massacre of convicted and suspected criminals simply by writing their names in the Death Note, thereby deterring other potential felons.

I liked the look and feel of the movie - not exactly polished or overproduced, but generally flowing and coherent. However, it could have been a little more pacy, and the protagonist, Light, isn't the most kakoi of Japanese guys. Few kawaii Japanese girls as well, except for Misa Amane, who will play a more major role in the sequel, in which she becomes the second Kira (derived from the Japanese pronouncation of the English word "Killer").

Really looking forward to Death Note: The Last Name scheduled for a 28 Dec release in Singapore after watching the trailer. Also did a bit of reading up on Wikipedia and there were some major spoilers, but it really piqued by interest in the manga series. I find it way more intriguing than say, Love Hina.

There are limited screening times for the movie so be sure catch it fast if you intend to.
