Caught Death Note with the gang yesterday. A decent movie with an interesting premise: that a crime-free society can be created by the massacre of convicted and suspected criminals simply by writing their names in the Death Note, thereby deterring other potential felons.I liked the look and feel of the movie - not exactly polished or overproduced, but generally flowing and coherent. However, it could have been a little more pacy, and the protagonist, Light, isn't the most kakoi of Japanese guys. Few kawaii Japanese girls as well, except for Misa Amane, who will play a more major role in the sequel, in which she becomes the second Kira (derived from the Japanese pronouncation of the English word "Killer").
Really looking forward to Death Note: The Last Name scheduled for a 28 Dec release in Singapore after watching the trailer. Also did a bit of reading up on Wikipedia and there were some major spoilers, but it really piqued by interest in the manga series. I find it way more intriguing than say, Love Hina.
There are limited screening times for the movie so be sure catch it fast if you intend to.
