I'm absolutely loving 張惠妹's latest album - 我要快樂. An excellent collection of sensual ballads like 人质 and the title track, though I would have preferred a comparable quality and number of mid and fast tempo numbers. The first few singles of this album have all been ballads (which are bordering on being overplayed on radio and TV), which goes to show the lacklustre quality of the latter in this album. A pity.

Another album I would recommend is David Gilmour's (Pink Floyd guitarist) "On an Island", if you like rock that is atmospheric and powerful, but not heavy. There's a misconception that rock is always loud, noisy and propelled by deafening drum beats, but Mayday and Pink Floyd present another spectrum of rock which is equally powerful, but not necessarily as heavy and "damaging" to hearing. David Gilmour's latest solo outing after a 22-year hiatus is an album I really like to play at night just for the "mood" and his atmospheric (for lack of a better description) vocals.
